Selfie Facts

1. In August of 2103, the word selfie was officially added to the Oxford Dictionary.

2. The first selfie in history was taken in 1839 by Robert Cornelius. At the time, he would have had to stay motionless for 3 to 15 minutes in order to take the photo.

3. The first person to use the word “selfie” was a drunk Australian back in 2002.

While showing off a photo of a cut on his lip, the man wrote:

“Um, drunk at a mates 21st, I tripped ofer [sic] and landed lip first (with front teeth coming a very close second) on a set of steps. I had a hole about 1cm long right through my bottom lip. And sorry about the focus, it was a selfie.”
